  • If you and some of your colleagues would like to share the hour, you are welcome to join as a group. This is a video consultation for case consultation, questions about the phases, ways you feel stuck in your processing with clients, and extra practice/live demos when needed to practice phases. Meeting in a group can sometimes be helpful to learn from multiple therapists and hear case consultations that you may be able to relate to. A maximum of 4 people are welcome to join for the hour to allow everyone time to speak. If you need a letter for group consultation hours, this can be requested.

IS AN INTENSIVE RIGHT FOR YOU?

Typically, a therapy session will last 45-90 minutes. An EMDR intensive is an extended therapy session within a short period of time. An intensive may be right for you if:

  • You’ve experienced a recent traumatic event and would like to address it in a short time period

  • You have limited time to schedule weekly appointments with a therapist

  • You have limited opportunity to take off work or find childcare for appointments

  • You feel overwhelmed by gaps between appointments and waitlists for therapists

  • You are currently in therapy but would like adjunct EMDR therapy

  • You are in therapy but feel stuck in certain patterns that may be related to past experiences/habits

An intensive is designed for those who want to receive a lot of therapy in a short amount of time. It is important to be supported at this time, as it can be emotionally and physically exhausting to experience an extended therapy session. I offer virtual intensives via a video platform, which can help if you are someone who is more comfortable in your own home, someone with limited access to transportation, you live in a remote area, or you prefer more anonymity. Since it is virtual, it is important you are able to find a place where you have privacy and feel safe for the duration of the intensive.

FAQs

  • As best you can, try to get plenty of rest, water, and healthy foods leading up to and after your appointment. I encourage mindfulness if that is grounding for you. Light movement such as walking or yoga are great ways to release energy and tension. Ask others for support so that you have time after your intensive to recover and reflect. Let your supports or someone you trust know that you are doing the intensive so that you have someone to reach out to after if you want to reflect on it, or if you want someone to talk to and distract you after a long day of exploring your emotions. Do not schedule the intensive directly before work or something that would require a lot of attention/energy. Have an idea of what usually feels good for your self-care and make sure there are opportunities to practice self-care after the intensive.

  • The answer to this question will be individualized based on your goals, trauma history, and present support. Some people may be seeing a therapist already and just want to go through one intensive to work through some trauma or stuck point. Others may have a specific event they want to work on. Others may have a list of events they want to work on and we will create a full timeline together. We can talk about this more during a phone consultation and I can gain more information from the intake form you will fill out before your appointments.

  • A 48 hour notice must be given in order to cancel or move any portion of your intensive. Giving less than a 48 hour notice will result in being charged the full price for the cancellation.
