IS AN INTENSIVE RIGHT FOR YOU?

Typically, a therapy session will last 45-90 minutes. An EMDR intensive is an extended therapy session within a short period of time. An intensive may be right for you if:

  • You’ve experienced a recent traumatic event and would like to address it in a short time period

  • You have limited time to schedule weekly appointments with a therapist

  • You have limited opportunity to take off work or find childcare for appointments

  • You feel overwhelmed by gaps between appointments and waitlists for therapists

  • You are currently in therapy but would like adjunct EMDR therapy

  • You are in therapy but feel stuck in certain patterns that may be related to past experiences/habits

  • You may cognitively understand things but your body feels somatically stuck or has physical responses to triggers

An intensive is designed to support your schedule and timeline while working towards your treatment plan goals. An intensive can use a lot of emotional and physical energy so it is important to be supported at this time and to nourish yourself well. I offer virtual intensives via a video platform, which can help if you are someone who is more comfortable in your own home, someone with limited access to transportation, you live in a remote area, or you prefer more anonymity. Since it is virtual, it is important you are able to find a place where you have privacy, are free from distractions, and feel safe for the duration of the intensive.
